Summer Nicole Mills is a senior from Barbourville, Kentucky. Her majors are English Literary Studies and Communication Arts with an emphasis in Journalism. She has always thought about pursuing Journalism, but last year, she realized that that could become a reality when someone she knew from her English classes applied and became the editor in chief. So Summer took a chance and applied to become the managing editor, and a year later, she is now the editor in chief. Partaking in the newspaper helped her realize that Journalism is something she would want to do for the rest of her life. She cannot wait to expand The Patriot this year. She wants to engage with students from all different backgrounds and make reading the news enjoyable for everyone. In ten years, she hopes to receive her Master’s in Library Science and Journalism from NYU and live in a bigger city to put her journalism skills to practice in the real world. She will travel to different places worldwide and tell the untold stories of these areas. In her free time, she enjoys being with friends, reading thriller or romance novels, and hiking. A fun fact about Summer is that she went to her first concert in May, and it was Taylor Swift. Since then, she has already got tickets to see Noah Kahan and Niall Horan.
