Old Fashion Trading Days came through town this past weekend. The event took place from Thursday through Saturday in downtown.
The community had plenty of activities to offer so people could enjoy a nice evening with their loved ones. For example, people sang on a stage in front of the library. The UC Marching Band, Williamsburg Chorus, and Jacket Band performed for the crowd. A little closer into town was a mechanical bull ride, a shooting basketball game, and a train ride that drove around the square for people to enjoy.
The station 102.7 “We Rock” also played music from their van at the event. There were diverse types of food due to the various food trucks at the event. The options ranged from nachos, barbeque, cheeseburgers, funnel cakes, blooming onions, baked goods, and snow cones.
There were many booths you could purchase things from. Some are well-known, like the State Farm and Health Department booths. The majority were small business booths that carried homemade products. Exhale, owned by Tierra Chandler, sold candles, wax melts, soaps, and more, which they handmake themselves. Another booth is Scent, which Valerie Giles owns. She sells wax melts, wax warmers, and diffusers, which are great for college students because they are dorm-room friendly. Also available to purchase was anything from purses to clothing to toys.
Old Fashion Trading Days was great for all small businesses because they got to take advantage of the opportunity. Being in a small college town during a festival helped them attract customers and show people all the commodities and services they offer. There was a great turnout at Old Fashion Trading Days this year, and it will undoubtedly be amazing again next year.
